Hundreds of enthusiasts, curious newcomers, and seasoned collectors descended upon the arena for the three-day event, held May 29-31. More than 60 tattoo and piercing artists from Michigan and across the country set up stations, offering everything from intricate custom designs to quick walk-up pieces. Raquel Centellas, owner of Drunken Monkey Tattoo, offered practical advice for those considering new work. “Always recommend checking out the artist you want to be with. Check out their work, portfolios, and make a call. Someone will get with you,” she said. The emphasis on research and connection helped first-timers feel welcomed in what can sometimes feel like an intimidating space.
Beyond the art itself, the event fostered a strong sense of community. Families, friends, and solo visitors wandered the floor, watching artists at work, shopping for unique pieces, and celebrating the bold self-expression that tattoos represent.
