Revolutionary A.E.R.O. Tattoo Technology by Bang Bang
New York, NY — Celebrity tattoo artist Bang Bang (real name Keith McCurdy) has introduced a groundbreaking technological advancement to the tattoo industry with the launch of A.E.R.O. (Artist Enabled Robotic Operator) at his flagship Manhattan studio.
Developed in collaboration with Austin-based tech startup Blackdot, A.E.R.O. is a human-supervised robotic device designed to apply tattoos with extreme precision. The system uses machine vision, AI, and a custom triple-point needle that deposits ink at a consistent depth of approximately 250 microns. It first maps the skin’s surface to the micron level, then executes designs with flawless symmetry and repeatability—capabilities that proponents say surpass what a human hand can achieve alone.
Bang Bang, known for inking high-profile clients including Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, and other celebrities, emphasized that the robot is not intended to replace artists but to serve as an extension of their creative vision. “It does things humans cannot do, and as a tattoo artist, that’s really exciting,” he told reporters. Sessions are led by a trained operator, and clients currently select from a curated set of robot-compatible designs.
The device has already completed dozens of tattoos on volunteers and is now booking paid appointments at Bang Bang NYC. Early users report significantly less pain due to the machine’s consistent, dot-by-dot application method. Blackdot plans eventual expansion to additional studios, though A.E.R.O. remains exclusive to Bang Bang for now.
Industry reaction has been mixed. While some praise the innovation for potentially making tattoos more accessible and precise, traditionalists express concern about the role of human artistry in an increasingly automated craft. Bang Bang maintains the technology enhances rather than diminishes the artistic process.
As the tattoo world continues to evolve, A.E.R.O. represents a bold step into the intersection of art and robotics. Appointments can be booked via the studio’s website.
