Red Milk
Written and painted By Phoebe Chastain
As night cradles me
The essence of untold sorrow unveils the void
I have dissolved
Into a sulphureous paste
Moonlight liquifies this paste
It is now amniotic
I have returned to my mothers womb space
Tossing, turning, twisting
In black waters of isolation
Pungently aware of my existence before taking the form of flesh like electricity
Tangled in an umbilical chord of a thousand daunting midnights
My restless hands discover a hollowed out shell
Where all dis-ease was once sheltered
Light fuses with past haunts
Tainted lullabies shift into the grace of her unborn daughters caress — my caress
Paving way for incantations of protection
.
.
.
of ease
